On November 3, 1911, the Chevrolet Motor Company was established in Detroit, Michigan, by Swiss émigré and engineer Louis Chevrolet and American business man William Durant. One 100 years later, the renowned American car company celebrates its centennial with two great photo artworks to pay tribute to its past and future.

Chevrolet invited French photo artist Jean-François Rauzier to its headquarters it Detroit where he was inspired for his two artworks "Renaissance" and "Volt Symphony".

Renaissance: With this augmented-reality picture, Jean-François Rauzier pays tribute to Chevrolet's history with an impressive collection of Chevrolet cars from the 1911 Classic Six, engineered and designed by Louis Chevrolet, to today's models such as Aveo, Orlando, Cruze and of course the Chevrolet Volt, electric car with extended range capability. Rauzier chose the place in front of General Motors' headquarters in Detroit to assemble Chevrolet cars from the past 100 years. Jean-François Rauzier likes to take his audience into a dream world. With "Renaissance", he composed an image of the futuristic city of Detroit with a nod to its tradition in automobile manufacturing.

Volt Symphony: The artist visited the Volt manufacturing plant in Detroit, Michigan. He took multiple angles of the Volt production lines and composed them into a hyperphoto. "Symphony" combines art, music and industry in a unique way. The result is an overwhelming artwork with a tremendous amount of details. The spectator experiences a silent symphony with the production line acting as a perfect orchestra, directed by the artist himself.

About Jean-François Rauzier

Born in 1952, French artist Jean-François Rauzier was fascinated by photography from an early age. He graduated from the School Louis Lumière in 1976. He has since been working as a professional photographer, while developing a personal creative work. In 2002, his artistic work took an innovative and radical turn: He invented the concept of the HYPERPHOTO. Rauzier creates virtual images consisting of several hundreds of shots, taken with a telephoto lens and assembled by computer. In his monumental works, he mixes the infinitely big and the infinitesimal, in a profusion of details so unusual as fascinating. The image thus recomposed numerically gives way to the dreamlike world of the artist. For a few years, this virtuoso of the digital technologies has been receiving the recognition and praise of his peers. He is the winner of prestigious artistic and photographic awards: In 2006, the show Up-date in Berlin awarded him the Screenings prize; in 2008, he received the Arcimboldo award for the digital creation; in 2009, he was rewarded by the APPPF in the category photograph of architecture; and in 2010, he received the Eurazeo prize. His works immerse the spectator into a dreamlike, sometimes fantastic universe. They offer a reflection on reality, the place of man in the city, the perception of the world and an invitation to a an exceptional journey. More information: www.rauzier-hyperphoto.com
