Chevrolet's first entry into the European family van segment, the Chevrolet Orlando, will make its world debut at the Mondial de l'Automobile in Paris on September 30, 2010. Based on the show car concept introduced in Paris in 2008, the Chevrolet Orlando is a family car with attitude. A compact 7-seater with striking crossover design, interior flexibility and great value, it really is a car for every situation. From family holidays and city shopping trips to sporting activities and pleasure drives, the Orlando offers space and style for everyone.
"It takes energy and versatility to manage a family," says Wayne Brannon, President and Managing Director Chevrolet Europe. "The Orlando's bold design and functionality are an expression of what modern families are all about."
The Orlando is the perfect companion for families with today's busy lifestyles. With a wide variety of possible seating configurations, the Chevrolet 7-seater can be quickly transformed into one of the most voluminous vans in the class for the transport of bigger loads. The Orlando also offers innovative storage solutions for all the "stuff" that tends to travel with the modern family.
Eye-catching design
While some MPVs have a bland, utilitarian look about them, the Orlando adopts a tougher stance. The new addition to the Chevrolet family has a bold, confident face with a prominent gold bowtie on the brand's signature split radiator grille. Seen in profile, the Orlando has a low roofline with a dynamic, crossover-inspired silhouette.
Creative interior
Inside, it's the theater-style arrangement of the Orlando's three rows of seats that promises to grab the attention of family motorists. Passengers of all ages will enjoy an excellent view forward and to the side as the second and third row of seats are raised.
The new Orlando features a range of interior compartments of different shapes and sizes, situated in the center console, front and rear doors, rear cargo area and even the roof. Perhaps the most ingenious storage area is hidden behind the front face of the audio and accessed by flipping it up. Within easy reach of both driver and passenger, this storage area is large enough to hold an MP3 player, sunglasses and wallets – and cleverly includes a USB port that can recharge an MP3 or iPod while on the move.
The interior also includes some imaginative Chevrolet design cues, such as the Corvette-inspired dual cockpit and ambient blue backlighting in the center console.
The first of seven new entries for Chevrolet's centenary
2011 marks the 100th anniversary of Chevrolet and the Orlando will be the first of seven new models to celebrate the brand's centenary. It will be one of four Chevrolet world premieres at the Paris Motor Show. The car is set to go on sale across Europe in early 2011.
