DONINGTON – There is one additional reason why Yvan Muller is particularly happy to be at Donington this week as the reigning WTCC World Champion took delivery of his new Norton Commando 961 Special Edition straight from the factory of the legendary British motorcycle company, which is based in Donington Park, close to the circuit hosting the British round of the WTCC as from tomorrow.
For the occasion, the Frenchman had traveled to the UK by road, with his personal Chevrolet Captiva and a trailer, in order to be able to bring home his new 80hp black and gold bike, which is unit # 195 of a limited edition of 200.
Yvan Muller : “Since I was a kid, I have been fascinated by motorcycles, it is a real passion and I have several vintage and custom bikes at home. I am not too much into sports bikes, what I really like is cruising around on a nice bike, enjoying the landscape and the sense of freedom that only motorcycles can provide. Some time ago, I had the opportunity to visit Norton’s factory and fell in love with the Commando 961 SE. I signed the purchase order at that very moment, and here I am today to take delivery of this beautiful machine carrying a badge so rich in tradition! I am sure I will have a lot of pleasure riding it this summer. Now that the bike is safely stored in the trailer, my focus is completely on this weekend’s race with the Chevrolet Cruze and on our objective to have the most successful home race for the RML team.”
Stuart Garner, CEO Norton Motorcycles (UK) Ltd: “It is a great pleasure and an honour to hand over the keys to Yvan for his Norton 961 SE motorcycle. From all the team at Norton we wish him good luck for the weekend at Donington Park and continued success for the future.”
